God’s Love

Finally – the journey begins. After waiting over a month for internet service to be installed, we are excited to be able to be “online” and uploading messages (and various other items in the future).

How exciting (and mind-blowing) to be able to hit “send” and friends, fellow workers and servants of our Master, be able to receive that message almost instantly – around the country and world.

Ideas abounding – we hope you will find the various tools and aids of benefit in your spiritual growth and service. These plans include sending out devotional messages once a week.

So let’s begin…

God’s Love And Mercy

How can mere human minds grasp the depth, length and height of the LOVE of our Creator? The answer is obviously! It is impossible to understand nor fathom why He loved us so, how He could give His Son for us, why He would even reach down to us in mercy and grace and offer a means of forgiveness!

ALL HAVE SINNED. Consider while we were yet in sin, God gave His Son (John 3:16), and Jesus was willing to die a horrible death on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins (1 Peter 1:18-19). There are none who are without sin (Rom. 3:10,23). Having committed transgressions we are lost (1 John 3:4), as the Ephesians, who “were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world” (Eph. 2:12).

OUR LOVING FATHER reached down with love indescribable, and offered what we did not deserve, and makes it possible for us not to receive what we deserve.

The words of a familiar song (written by Frederick M. Lehman [1868-1953]), speaks of the love of God so powerfuly…

The love of God is greater far,
Than tongue or pen can every tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Then in some of the most challenging lyrics found in hymns, Mr Lehman wrote the third verse.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made.
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And ev’ry man a scribe by trade.
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Tho’ stretched from sky to sky.

It could never be said we deserved such love as our Father has manifested. We have done nothing to earn it. It cannot be purchased. We are able to receive it as a gift from our Heavenly Father.

APPRECIATE AND NEGLECT NOT

May we ever appreciate the cost that was required to receive forgiveness of our sins. Let us never take for granted what God offers. May we humbly ever be thankful to an all-powerful, everywhere present, all-knowing God for His unspeakable gift (2 Cor. 9:15).
