There is so much bad news today – murder, robbery, immorality, corruption, theft – watching the evening news regarding gloom and doom results in our being discouraged and down in the dumps.
The “Good News” Of Jesus Christ
Prophets Wrote Of The Messiah. Emmanuel, Prince Of Peace, Mighty God (Isa. 9:6). Born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14). He would bare our sins, despised and rejected (Isa. 53). Establish a kingdom that would never be destroyed (Dan. 2:44). Begin in Jerusalem (Isa. 2:2-3).
John The Baptist Was Christ’s Forerunner. Born six months before the Lord, he served a valuable purpose in preparing the way. He urged all to repent for the kingdom was at hand. Regarding Christ, John said he was not worthy to latch His shoes.
Jesus Christ Came To Earth For A Purpose. Luke tells us He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). He went about doing good (Acts 10:38). God wants ALL to be saved eternally in heaven (1 Tim. 2:3-4).
Jesus Invites ALL To Come To Him For Rest. Matthew 11:28-30 contains the precious words of invitation by our Lord to one and all. In Revelation 20 we are told that “whosoever” will drink of the water of life may do so. He is the author of eternal salvation to ALL those who obey Him (Heb. 5:8-9).
The World Needs Jesus, The Saviour. In sin, we need to hear the good news. We need to heed the message of the good news. We need to receive the result of hearing and heeding the good news – forgiveness, peace of mind, a righteous relationship with Almighty God.
Be A Deliverer Of Good News. Upon your learning of the good news, be sure and spread the glorious news of the Saviour to those in your world. Excitedly inform others of the escape from a life of drudgery, sorrow and pain and that it is available to them IF they will humbly and completely submit to the will of God.
A Final Thought. Regardless of the evil that surrounds us in this earthly life, we are assured that we can be righteous, acceptable in God’s sight. Certainly there will be challenges and hazards – but our Lord is with us (Matt. 28:20) and will never forsake or leave us (Heb. 13:5-6). The “good news” of Jesus Christ is truly “good news” – even more, it is the GREATEST NEWS possible to ever hear in this life – which (with faithfulness) will result in our hearing the GREATEST WORDS – “well done, good and faithful servant!”
